Lubricants! Lets talk about it!

Rachael Boniface - Physiotherapist

We are all about healthy vulvas at Pelvic Physio Co. So let’s talk about lubricants!!!

Water based lubricants Pros: Gentle, pH balanced, safe with condoms Cons: Absorbed quickly therefore not great for vaginal dryness. Some Water based lubricants containing glycerin and sugar, which are known to contribute to yeast infections.

Silicone Lubricants Pros: Last the longest out of all lubricants, hypoallergenic, safe for latex condoms Cons: Harder to wash off, not suitable for silicone toys, may stain your sheets.

Oil Based Lubricants Pros: Great for vaginal dryness especially with breast feeding and menopause, doubles as massage oil Cons: Not suitable for condoms, may stain sheets.

Remember different vulvas have different needs, so if you are not sure, or having trouble with your lubricant - cease using and chat to a Womens Health Physio!
