Let’s talk pads!
Firstly, what’s the difference between menstrual pads and incontinence pads??
Menstrual pads are designed to hold menstrual flow whereas incontinence pads are designed to absorb the rapid flow of urine. Additionally, incontinence pads are designed to absorb and hold much more fluid than menstrual pads, which means you will have fewer leaks. Incontinence pads often control odour better, but as a result may constant fragrances and dyes.
Why should you NOT use menstrual pads to control urinary incontinence? 1. Absorbency: they do draw the urine away with wicking fabrics and gel, therefore the urine may leak out. 2. Odour control: incontinence pads draw the moisture away with gels which control the smell of urine better
How do I stop my skin becoming irritated from wearing pads? 1. Choose a pad with a cotton top sheet 2. Select the appropriate pad for you needs. Eg; have thicker pads for the heavier day of your periods and lighter ones for the lighter days. 3. Avoid fragrances and dyes. This goes for what we wash our vulvar with too. Remember your vagina is a self cleaning organ. JUST Water is fine! 4. Change your pad more often!!!
